To buy your coffee, choose your cause below:

Brewing Tips

If you are using an auto drip machine, the grind should be fine. For French press or non filter drip machines, the grind should be more coarse.

Use at least 1 heaping tablespoon of coffee per cup. You may use more, if you like your coffee stronger, but we don't recommend using less. Coffee brewed on the stronger side allows you to taste the distinctive flavors. You should especially keep this in mind if you add milk or cream to your coffee.

Always use fresh, clean water when brewing your coffee.

Coffee Storage

Grounds 4 Good prides ourselves in getting your coffee to you as soon as possible after roasting for optimum freshness.

The storage of your coffee is important to keep it fresh until the last cup. When you receive your coffee, place it in an airtight container, preferably glass or ceramic. If using glass, be sure to keep it in the cabinet to protect your coffee from light.

When using whole beans, grind the beans at the time of brewing to keep them as fresh as possible.

He loves all types of music, good food, art, the outdoors, skiing, hiking, fishing on the Eagle River, and spending quality, authentic time with friends and family from around the world. Kern and Wendy have learned to live life open-handed, passionately, serving others and on purpose...realizing that life is a fragile gift from God.

Wendy White, CCO Chief Creative Officer

Wendy is an artist, designer, and writer. She has a deep faith and love for people that shines through her work. Wendy has a BA from Texas Tech University where she studied Technical Writing and Art. The Whites have lived in places like China and Spain, and have served at several churches both in the states and abroad. Wendy loves the people she's met around the world, and cherishes the works the Lord has allowed her to participate in.

On the art side, she often paints on topics that are intriguing, inspiring, or influencing. Her goal for each project is that it will move people and evoke emotion-speaking to hearts without words. Many years of traveling through the villages of Europe and the coast of the Mediterranean have had an impact Wendy as an artist. She soaked in all the colors, sights, sounds, and tastes of many beautiful cultures. The textures and colors from her experiences are evident in her work.

Wendy and Kern have 3 children: Jake 16, Brooke 14, and Ana 10. They currently live in Vail, CO and are blessed to see God's glory represented all around them on a daily basis. Wendy loves to hike, read, cook (as an artform!), and spend time with family and friends. Her wonderful family is a constant reminder of how God has blessed her. Think Life 360

360 Value Add...Not Just Coffee

When you drink our coffee, you are making a difference with every sip. From the grower to your cup, we make sure value is added every step of the way. When you drink our coffee you are supporting the entire value chain. You are changing lives, one cup at a time.

We at Grounds 4 Good strive to be fair to our growers and our environment. We have relationships with friends in the countries that grow the beans, and we know the impact fair trade has on the communities there. Our coffee is grown organically as we seek to be responsible for our impact on the environment.

People

Who are the people? Every person participating in the value chain from the coffee bean picker, to the preparer of the green bean, to the roaster, to the bagger, to the shipper, to you, to the person who goes out to do good supported by your decision to buy from Grounds 4 Good. We greatly esteem the lives along the chain and will do our best to serve each one to the best of our ability.

Product

Our coffee is the tool. It's the gas that makes the value chain run. It provides a livelihood to those who produce it, and they are being compensated fairly for their efforts. It provides an affordable luxury for you, the social entrepreneur. Coffee is something you will most likely buy anyway, why not do it for good with purpose behind it? Our coffee provides a way to put money behind the causes you care about in this day and age where many non profits are hurting.

Purpose

We wear our hearts on our sleeves. Everything we do has a greater purpose. We are all part of something much larger than ourselves. Our goal is to have a successful company that models virtuous business and best practices while doing good in our world at the same time. We are fighting injustices, serving the needy, supporting good works enterprises with everything we've got. Join us! This is a grassroots movement you can participate in...we'd love to partner with you in your journey.

A Word from Sam Say: Sourcing Partner Bolaven Farms

Posted by Wendy White on Mar 15th, 10  |  No Comments

Now that I am a farmer, I have a redeemed perspective of and new appreciation for the first rain of the year. The early rain does far more than break a dry, stressful season for our coffee trees; it serves as a token promise of the imminent harvests that are yet to come.

Some of our most exciting news is about BBC World's visit to Bolaven Farms. BBC has completed the filming of their next Earth Report which focuses on the biodiversity of Laos. Bolaven Farms is featured in the film as an effort to heal and redeem depleted land that has suffered from unsustainable “Slash and Burn” cultivation practices.

Bolaven Farms is boldly claiming “Beyond Fair Trade and Organic” in what we do:

Paying Fair Trade pricing base on quality and disseminating Integrated Organic System for improved crop yields.

Complying strictly to a zero tolerance for chemical and commercially produced organic inputs. All our fertilizers and pesticides are produced on-site using indigenous organic ingredients.

Working to reclaim the Plateau’s biodiversity that has been diminishing from deforestation and unsustainable “Slash and Burn” and “Shifting” cultivation practices.

A Game Changing Movement

Posted by Wendy White on Mar 6th, 10  |  No Comments

Tomas Kern White:

A movement is growing across the country. People are changing things. People are done with business, NGOs, nonprofits, and churches as usual. They are looking for organizations that are engaged in meaningful, purposeful, authentic living in a real world with real needs.

We at Grounds 4 Good want to encourage, support, and serve this growing movement. Grounds 4 Good was created as a game-changing tool to fight injustices found in our world locally and globally. Simply put, we want everyone to “wake up…do good” as we follow Jesus into the trenches of everyday life.

Grounds 4 Good is a social innovation for causal people that delivers great coffee AND supports great causes. For every person that buys coffee from Grounds 4 Good, $5 dollars a month is directed to the cause of their choice for as long as they are members. It’s that easy.

It is time to shift the paradigm…to a new vision for the future. People above profits. Global good.

We need leaders, influencers, and social entrepreneurs who will lead businesses, NGOs, nonprofits, and churches that will transform communities, redeem the lost, seek the welfare of the city, encourage the oppressed, care for the orphans and widows, give a drink to the thirsty...people who will wake up and do good wherever they are.

A Cup of Joe Never Tasted So Good...

Posted by Wendy White on Mar 6th, 10  |  No Comments

Coffee addicts it is time to come out of hiding and listen in on how you can turn your caffeinated mornings into something fabulous. If you have ever given thought to just how much money you spend each month on coffee, then you probably realize it is more than you would like to ever publicly admit.

Fear not, one organization appropriately named Grounds 4 Good (www.grounds4good.com) is affording coffee lovers the opportunity to guzzle java and give to a good cause with a small monthly subscription. Here is how it works… You register for a monthly supply of coffee which includes two 12 oz. bags of exotic organic coffee mailed to your home for $20.

The best part is that for each purchase, $5 goes to a cause of your choice.

Grounds 4 Good is currently linked multiple causes, here are a few… Help Haiti – an organization committed to helping rebuild Haiti, Compassion Int’l. – releasing children from poverty in Jesus name, Kiva – loans that are changing lives of those in poor economic countries, World Vision – building a better world for children.

Being intentional with all of your life to further the Kingdom of God, including your cup of coffee is a reality.Be intentional and visit Ground 4 Good so that your coffee investment can become an investment in the life of someone who needs the Gospel.
